THE Dumaguete City police arrested three alleged members of a snatching group inside the South City Elementary School in Barangay Mangnao at 4:30 a.m. Monday.
Police identified the suspects as Andrew Lisondra, 29, married, of Barangay Camanjac; Jefford Barrica, 23, single of Barangay Banilad; and a 15-year-old minor of Barangay Calindagan.
SPO1 Dario Paquera, PO3 Leberato Faelogo, and PO1 Elmer Langcoyan of the Intelligence Section of the police had a surveillance operation in the area after a concerned citizen informed them of the presence of three unidentified men inside the school.
Police said the men tried to escape but authorities immediately collared them.
Police recovered a bag with shabu granules inside, rolled tin foil, Nokia 2300 mobile phone, and cash money of different currencies from Lisondra.
A wallet containing the driver's license of Barrica, three different tickets of Prime Asia Dumaguete Branch 3, ATM card own by a certain Cherry Ann Tobosa, and credit card owned by Angelita Barrameda were taken from Barrica.
The police also confiscated a motorcycle believed to be a get-away vehicle of the suspects.
At the Dumaguete City Police Office, one of the victims identified two of the three suspects, Jefford Barrica and the 15-year-old minor, as those who snatched her bag while she was riding on a motorcycle in Barangay Bajumpandan.
The three suspects are now detained at the city detention cell waiting for charges to be filed against them.
The 15-year-old suspect admitted they were members of a seven-member group of snatchers operating in the city but he did not provide names. He's willing to cooperate with the police for the arrest of the other members.
Police Chief Superintendent Lefoldo Cabanag told reporters they have now the list of the snatchers and that the suspects are under surveillance.
Meanwhile, an Internet café owner and his two employees were rushed to the hospital after they were shot along the North National Highway in Capitol Area around 12:15 a.m. Sunday.
