Tourist arrival up in 1st quarter

TOURIST arrival in Dumaguete City increased to 43,232 during the first quarter of this year compared to 40,050 last year, said Cenderela Baena of the visitor’s bureau of the City Tourism Operation Division.

Baena said American nationals are the top foreign tourists at 1,081 followed by Japanese at 933 and Koreans at 611.

Efficient promotion and advertising of Dumaguete as a premium tourist spot contributed to the increase of tourist arrivals.

Baena also said they have participated in various tourism exhibits in the city and in the country.

Dumaguete City will hold on May 16 to 25 the second Kabulakan Festival. Local and foreign tourists are expected to visit the city to witness the festival. (SGR)
