DILG awards villages with best peace, order council

THE provincial office of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has announced this year's winners of the best peace and order council, outstanding barangay tanod team, and lupong tagapamayapa incentives awards in Negros Oriental.

Provincial Governor Emilio Macias II and DILG Provincial Director Jofralito Lorico handed some checks, trophies and certificates of appreciation to all the winners.

Bayawan City was awarded of P7,000 worth of check plus trophy and certificate as the first best peace and order council under the component city category. Tanjay City and Dumaguete City were placed second and third with P6,000 and P5,000, respectively.

For the first-third class municipality category, local government units (LGUs) of Valencia, Sibulan, and Sta. Catalina got the first, second and third places, respectively, with the same cash incentives.

Towns in the fourth-sixth class category, San Jose got the first place, Zamboanguita placed second, while the third winner was Vallehermoso.

The awarding highlighted the exemplary performance of local peace and order councils at all levels in their coordinating efforts for the delivery of services by government agencies and no-government organization in the attainment of peace and order, law and order, public safety.

The outstanding tanod team was also awarded to encourage strong cooperation and bonding among members of the tanod team as key players in the maintaining peace and order in the community.

Barangays Puhagan of Valencia and Bio-os, Amlan were awarded P5,000 each as first winners for outstanding barangay tanod teams in the category A & B, respectively. While, P4,000 and P3,000 for barangays Batinguel and Piapi both in Dumaguete City got second and third placed, respectively.

A total of P52,000 were distributed to all the winners for lupong tagapamayapa incentives awards, which were given to barangays Tubtubon of Sibulan and Basak, Zamboanguita as first winners in category 1 and 2. Barangays Awaan, Ayungon and Jantianon, Amlan for second place, and Poblacion 1 of Siaton and North Poblacion, Bacong both got third placer in first-third class and fourth-sixth class category, respectively.
