Friday, December 19, 2008 Arnaiz bares projects for 2009 By Edmund B. Sestoso
NEGROS Oriental second district Rep. George Arnaiz said his infrastructure projects for next year will focus on rehabilitation and construction of major roads.
He said Negros Oriental could expect more concreting and cementing of roads in 2009 as he intends to allocate P500 million from his share of the Priority Development Assistance Fund (Pdaf) for this purpose next year.
Several road repairs were undertaken this year in Dumaguete City, resulting to traffic jams in some major thoroughfares.
In San Jose town, Arnaiz was able to allocate P20 million to fund the concreting of the road leading to Jilocon village.
Arnaiz said asphalt roads are more expensive to maintain than concreted ones. He added that asphalt roads are good for a few years only and need periodic maintenance.
Arnaiz said the road sections at the Dumaguete City Public Market and the main road from Capitol going up to the boundary of Bacong township will form part of his projects for next year.
