City, traders earmark P14.6M for school bldg

THE city and a group of traders allocated P14.6 million for the construction of 30 classrooms in the city.

A joint venture between the city and the South Cotabato Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCFCCCI) was approved Thursday.

In the memorandum, the City Government authorizes Mayor Pedro Acharon Jr. to enter into agreement with SCFCCCI to with regards to project's terms and condition.

Of the P14.6 million budget, only P5 million will be shouldered by the city while the remaining amount will be given by the SCFCCCI.

The project also covers procurement of blackboards and chairs for the two-room-school building that would be constructed.

"This is not the first time that the chamber of commerce undertake this kind of laudable project. But this is one of the series," Councilor Ramon Milleza said.

Milleza, chair of the bid and awards committee, authored the resolution, which was passed by the City Council Thursday.

Councilor Lourdes Casabuena also lauded the effort of SCFCCCI which sponsors the construction of additional building for public schools in the city.

Last year, the chamber of commerce also already donated several classrooms to the city.
