SK federation chair assumes office
THE 17-YEAR-OLD Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chair of Barangay Buayan has officially assumed into office as an ex-officio member at the City Council Thursday.
Brian Estrellan, son of newly-elected Buayan Barangay Chair Wennie Estrellan, was installed by outgoing SK federation president Maureen Christy Padayao.
Brian is a Computer Engineering (CE) freshman at the AMA University along Santiago Boulevard here in General Santos City.
Of the 26 SK barangay chairs, Estrellana won over three other nominees in the election of SK federation chair last Sunday at the City Hall.
Padayao, however, broke into tears while delivering her four-page valedictory address before members of the City Council in the regular session Thursday.
"My six long years stint in the council as ex-officio member thereof has offered me both vast horizon of personal growth and development," she said.
The outgoing councilor yesterday urged Estrellan to continue the programs that she had started, particularly in sports and youth affairs.
One of those is the creation of an inter-barangay sports competition which
Padayao claimed did not push through during her term.
However, Padayao is most likely to continue working at the City Hall as she is one of the action officers of Sports Division. (Danilo A. Reyes) |
