Dalumpines to Dangane: Face the consequences By Danilo A. Reyes
POLICE Regional Office (PRO) 12 director, Chief Supt. Jose Dalumpines, said acting Sarangani provincial police director Supt. Willie Dangane should suffer the consequences of his action if indeed he committed a crime.
Dalumpines was referring to the murder charges filed against the controversial police officer now pending with the Municipal Trial Court in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.
"Kung may kasalanan ang isang tao, then I don't care kung sino siya. Kung mapatunayan na si Col. Dangane ay meron talagang nagawang kasalanan, (If the guy is guilty, I don't care who he is. If Dangane is proven guilty,) so be it," Dalumpines said.
Dalumpines declined to comment though on the merit of the case filed against Dangane.
When asked whether he would push through with the motion to withdraw the complaint against Dangane filed by then PRO 12 director Senior Supt. Bartolome Baluyot, Dalumpines did not give a categorical answer.
"Sa akin naman (On my part), my stand is on the right side," Dalumpines told Sun.Star.
He said he would leave it to the court to decide on the motion filed by his predecessor.
"That would be deliberated. Kay naka-schedule na ang deliberation ng korte, so we'll just wait. Mahirap naman kung pakialaman natin 'yong trabaho ng judge," Dalumpines simply said. (Because it is already scheduled for hearing, we'll just wait. It is not prudent to interfere with the decision of the judge.)
Isulan Judge Osmundo Villanueva will decide on the motion filed by Baluyot in a hearing already set for Thursday.
Villanueva ordered Dangane arrested last month after former Sultan Kudarat provincial police director Supt. Abubkara Mangelen filed murder charges against the police officer in connection with the July 25 killing of suspected Abu Sufian leader Tongko Abdulrahman.
The original warrant was never served as lawyer Luis Salazar claimed his client was not the same person stated in the order.
On September 19, Villanueva corrected name of Dangane entered in the warrant.
Still, Dangane remains scot-free as another motion, this time filed by Salazar, and the motion to withdraw the murder charges are still pending before the court.
As this developed, Sultan Kudarat provincial police director Supt. Bonfilo Dacoco said he would inhibit himself from the murder case.
Dacoco said he has no personal knowledge of the case filed by his predecessor.
"Hindi ako puwedeng magkomento sa withdrawal of the case na nai-file ni Baluyot noon dahil unang una hindi pa ako ang provincial director dito noong mangyari ang krimen," Dacoco explained. (I could not comment on the withdrawal of the case filed by Baluyot because I was not then the provincial director when the alleged crime happened.)
He admitted however that he had sought the advice of Judge Villanueva concerning his position.
"The judge advised me that it is up for the provincial prosecutor to answer the motion. That's why I am keeping myself away from the case," said Dacoco. With Merlyn F. Velarde
