German to serve sentence once convicted: BID

THE chief of the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation (BID) here said German national Ernard Hans Joseph Lang, whom police arrested for illegal drugs on Monday, would only be deported after he has served his sentence once convicted by the court.

"He will have to suffer the consequence of being arrested for illegal drugs. He has to serve (penalty) first," lawyer Julius Jamorabon, BID chief in General Santos, said.

Jamorabon however confirmed that Lang is a properly documented alien who has been living in the city for several years.

Lang, a resident of Perez Subdivision in Barangay San Isidro, first arrived in the city in 1992 after marrying a Filipina whose name was not revealed to the press here.

The two have since separated.

Lang's was the first foreign national arrested in the city for illegal drug charges. Danilo A. Reyes, reporter
