NBI says NFA employees involved in rice pilferage By Merlyn F. Velarde
THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Socsksargen district office said some employees were involved in looting the warehouse of the National Food Authority (NFA) where over 374 bags of rice were lost due to pilferage.
NBI Special Agent Dominic Cerro revealed their initial findings pointed to the involvement of some employees in the pilferage, which was uncovered in December last year.
Cerro, who is handling the case, however refused to identify the NFA employees who were involved in the said anomaly.
NFA officials here requested the NBI to conduct an investigation after they discovered the missing bags of rice.
Lorenzo Camayang, NFA provincial manager here, earlier said he would not hesitate to file charges against employees who are found involved in the anomaly.
"We will not be tolerating any such doings because we want to clean our agency from unscrupulous and corrupt personnel," said Camayang.
Cerro however said the NFA office here has not taken any action on his report.
Meanwhile, Cerro said he would release the names of the NFA employees as soon as he finishes his final report.
NFA officials here earlier filed a complaint against members of the security agency who were guarding its warehouse when the anomaly was discovered.
