GSCPO chief mum on slaying of 2 cops By Edwin G. Espejo
GENERAL Santos City Police Office (GSCPO) Director Jeorge Aquisap declined a request for an interview Monday on the slayings of two members of the Makar police.
Aquisap said he just arrived from Davao City and has not yet gone through the police journal and cannot give an accurate account of the shooting incident last Sunday, which left PO1 Arnulfo Bernardo and PO1 Oscar Calsis dead.
The two policemen reportedly went inside the compound of Asia Brewery Inc. in Makar Sunday afternoon together with a still unnamed salesman of the said company.
Around 3:45 p.m., residents said they heard several gunshots inside the compound.
When policemen from the Makar police station responded, they found Calsis already lying in his own pool of blood.
They also rushed the other victim, PO1 Bernardo, who died several hours after he was brought to the General Santos Doctors Hospital.
Investigators said Calsis was hit on the head and different parts of the body and died on the spot.
Bernardo, on the other hand sustained gunshot wounds in his abdomen and near his lower left ear.
Attending physicians, however, failed to resuscitate the policeman.
Jessie Pabiona, a security guard of Asia Brewery Inc., was immediately arrested by the police at the scene of the shooting incident.
Pabiona is now confined in a local hospital due to a gunshot wound on his left arm.
Pabiona's fellow guard, a certain Danilo Bibiloni, reportedly managed to escape and is believed to have gone in hiding.
Police are now tracking down Bibiloni, a former enlisted man of the Philippine Army, who reportedly left for Davao after the shooting incident.
Makar police station head, Insp. Rogelio Abran, likewise declined to give any statement on the said incident saying he is under strict instructions not to give any statement to the press here.
"Kritikal. Kasi, mga police ang involved (It's critical. Policemen were involved)," was all he said.
Sources said Bibiloni and the slain policemen wrestled for their guns after arguing with each other.
Bibiloni is believed to have fled to Davao City.
Abran already sent several of his men to Davao City to track down the suspect.
