CEO says Malakas 'talipapa' illegal

THE City Engineer's Office (CEO) recently revealed Purok Malakas "talipapa" (satellite market) was constructed without the necessary building permit.

Ronnel Cartojano, chief of the building and permit division of CEO, said they have not issued any building permit to the satellite market or the occupancy permit.

Also, the city fire protection office reportedly did not issue fire clearance to the said building although it has been operating for over a year now.

Some 40 vendors of this privately owned satellite market only learned of the real situation last week after the owner of the building allegedly tapped electricity from a power line in a nearby business establishment.

The South Cotabato II Electric Cooperative (Socoteco II) earlier reportedly cut off electricity in the building after Efren Manansala, owner of the building, failed to secure the necessary building permit.

Manansala also reportedly owes Socoteco II more that P100,000 in unpaid electricity bill. MFV
