City to hold month long X'mas bazaar

RESIDENTS here will be treated to a month-long carnival and people's bazaar for the Yuletide season starting next week, Mayor Pedro Acharon Jr. said recently.

Acharon considers it a thank-you gift for the people of General Santos who have been supportive of the City's peace and order efforts.

Dubbed as 'WOW! Pasko sa Gensan", the month long celebration will feature Krismas Bazaar and carnival rides at the Oval Plaza, Parol and Christmas Carol contests, exhibits, free medical and dental clinics, concerts and huge fireworks display on New Year's Eve.

Acharon said Pasko sa Gensan will become a regular fixture to attract local tourists and balikbayans.

The City will also host a two-day eco-tourism summit on December 11 and 12 at the Family Country Homes and convention Center.

Following the recent celebration of the Kalilangan and Tuna festivals, Acharon said he would intend to make General Santos a city of festival.

"There are exactly no tourist spots in the City, except for our modern infrastructure complexes. So to attract local and foreign tourists, we have to promote the City as a festival center," Acharon said.

This year's Christmas Bazaar is the second attempt of the city mayor to lighten up the City during the holiday season. EGE
