Ka Bel graces Anak Pawis congress

POLOMOLOK, South Cotabato -- Former Bayan Muna party list representative Crispin "Ka Bel" Beltran was the guest speaker of the 1st Regional Congress of the new party list group Anak Pawis held Tuesday at the open grounds of the AK-NAFLU-KMU office here.

Beltran, who recently resigned as Bayan Muna party list representative to become Anak Pawis first nominee, arrived Monday.

A press conference was held later in the afternoon at Café Beatriz in General Santos City.

Speaking before reporters, Beltran said the decision to form another party list group is not a product of political split-ups like what is happening in some political parties.

"Hindi po ito katulad ng ibang political party na nag-split dahil nag-aagawan kung sino ang tatakbo (It's not similar to other political parties that split-up because of competition on who will run)," Beltran clarified.

He explained that the decision to form Anak Pawis and other party list groups out of Bayan Muna is to maximize the sectoral representations in the House of Representatives.

"Had there been no limit in party list representations, Bayan Muna should have 13 representatives in Congress based on the votes it garnered last election," Beltran said.

Bayan Muna is the country's number one party list with 1.7 million votes in the last national election.

"Dahil dito, inaprobahan ng council ng Bayan Muna at ng Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) na magdagdag ng bagong parylist groups (Because of this, the council of Bayan Muna and Bayan approved the formation of new party list groups)," Beltran said.

"Like Bayan Muna, the Anak Pawis will promote respect for human rights, livelihood for the masses, social justice, genuine sovereignty, and peace base on justice," he added.

Beltran is currently the national chair of Anak Pawis for electoral concerns. AST
