Buyers of IP lands won't be recognized by NCIP
THE National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP) has declared that buyers of recently declared ancestral lands of the IP's will not be recognized.
Dr. Danilo Sulamo, provincial director of NCIP, said they are now investigating several complaints regarding the selling of ancestral land in Sitio Lanton, Apopong, this city.
"Sayang lang ang pera nong mga nakabili ng lupa diyan dahil hindi talaga
sila kikilalanin ng NCIP dahil ang lupa ay para sa mga awardees na mga
IP's (It's too bad for those who have bought lands in the area because they will never be recognized by NCIP since the land is intended for indigenous people)," Sulamo said.
Among the complaints is the reported selling of the 35-hectare DAPVile relocation site.
Chief Insp. Nasser Pendatun, one of the claimants to the ancestral land, sold the property to the Homeless People's Federation of the Philippines (HPFP) in a direct purchase scheme for its relocation project. The sale was done through the City Housing and Land Management Office (CHLMO).
City Mayor Pedro Acharon, Jr. earlier ordered the CHLMO to cease from facilitating the purchase since the land involved is protected under the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (Ipra).
Sulamo said the national chairman of the NCIP is due here to resolve this matter.
The provincial director also said that the NCIP is now ready to process the ancestral land title to the former Alcantara ranch that covers a total of 923-hectare. MFV
