Bayan Muna gives P4.8M projects to 6 barangays

AT LEAST six barangays in General Santos City received P4.8 million worth of projects from the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) of Bayan Muna partylist group, according to Bayan Muna Gensan city coordinator Victorio Madrediņos.

These barangays include Fatima, Tambler, Baluan, Conel, Barangay Mabuhay and Calumpang.

Madrediņos said the projects include livelihood assistance, multi-purpose buildings, training centers, medical assistance, and potable water systems.

He said one of the projects, worth P1 million and implemented in Calumpang, was implemented in coordination with Rep. Darlene Antonino-Custudio.

Bayan Muna regional coordinator Richard Jerome Cardiņo, on the other hand, said the projects implemented by Bayan Muna in Region 12 amounted to more than P12 million pesos in the last three years.

The Bayan Muna partylist group will hold a "people's caravan" tomorrow as part of its opening salvo in time for the start of the 90-day campaign period for the May 2004 elections.

Cardiņo said the caravan would start at 1:00 p.m. starting from the Lion's Beach en route to the main thoroughfares of the city.

He added that a political rally would be held later at Garcia Park to highlight the objectives, principle, programs and thrust of the Bayan Muna in the 2004 elections.

Bayan Muna emerged as the number one partylist group in the country after it garnered more than 1.7 million partylist votes in the 2001 elections.

It has three representatives in the House of Representatives.

Cardiņo said they hope to repeat the feat of Bayan Muna in the May 2004 elections.
