Firemen prepare for fire-prevention month By Allen S. Terencio
FIREMEN and fire volunteers attended the fun run and motorcade organized by the city fire station as the month-long fire prevention campaign kicked off Monday morning.
"These activities are our ways of improving the unity and teamwork between the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and other fire volunteers personnel. Sa ibang lugar kasi, parang may (Because in other places, it seems that there is) competition between BFP personnel and fire
volunteers," said City Fire Marshal Senior Insp. Jerry Lamanero.
Lamanero said provincial and city fire marshals in the region attended Monday's activities hosted by the General Santos City Fire Station.
The city fire department is also going to conduct series of fire drills this month to further hone the skills of firemen in firefighting, according to Lamanero.
He revealed that an energy company and a fast food chain have already requested a seminar on fire prevention measures and fire safety.
Lamanero also said the city fire station now has six fire trucks, including one sent by the national government.
