Fire chief caution drivers of firetrucks

THE city fire chief cautioned drivers to take extra caution in using the newly arrived firetruck.

Fire marshal Chief Insp. Jerry Lamanero said the state-of-the-art features of the new firetruck require delicate and proper handling.

"Dapat mag-ingat talaga ang driver dahil kung masira ito, malaki talaga ang magiging gastos dahil highly electronics ang sasakyan (The drivers should be extra careful because the moment this truck malfunctions, it would require huge expenses because the vehicle is highly electronics)," Lamanero said.

The P4-million worth firetruck is equipped with a ladder for a two-storey building, a jack and fire extinguisher with a water volume capacity of 3,800 liters.

The vehicle is the third fire fighting equipment provided by the government during the time of Lamanero.

The first firetruck was donated by the Rep. Darlene Antonino-Custodio while the other one was donated by the City Government.

Meanwhile, the General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO), in line with the observation of the Fire Prevention Month, is going to submit all its eight police precincts here for fire safety inspection.

GSCPO director Jeorge Aquisap said they received a memorandum from Camp Crame ordering all police precincts to be submitted for inspection.

Aquisap said Police Precinct Number 3 in Fatima might not pass the fire safety criteria.

The police station is made of light combustible materials that are considered as hazardous.

The GSCPO, together with the Bureau of Fire Protection, has scheduled the inspection starting next week. MFV
