Armed men kidnap farmer in Kiblawan By Bobby S. Terencio
ARMED men abducted a 37-year-old farmer in a remote village of Kiblawan town in Davao del Sur Monday afternoon, according to reports reaching media outlets here.
The alleged kidnap victim was identified as a certain Eduardo Niala, single and a resident of Barangay Talus in Malungon, Sarangani.
According to reports, Niala went to his farm located in Sitio Mainit, Barangay Bonot in Kiblawan Monday to supervise the harvesting of his cornfield.
Sitio Mainit is located along the boundary of Malungon and Kibalawan towns.
Reports said that at around 3:00 p.m., eight armed went to Niala's farm and at gunpoint abducted the latter.
Witnesses said Niala and his companions were not able to resist, fearing the armed men might hurt them.
The kidnappers, along with the victim, reportedly fled towards the direction of western part of Kiblawan.
But before leaving, the abductors allegedly left a word that they would only release Niala in exchange of P50,000 ransom.
The kidnappers warned they would kill Niala in three days if their ransom demand will not be met.
The Malungon police said they could still not locate the victim despite efforts to find him.
They also have not established the identities of Niala's abductors.
