Security tightens for business celebration By Aquiles Zonio
THE head of the Joint Task Force Gensan (JTFG) has tightened security measures to ensure peace and security during the month-long Yaman-Gensan celebration.
Col. Edgardo Gurrea, task force chief, told reporters that the JTFG had beefed up security forces in the city particularly in the various designated venues of Yaman-Gensan activities.
Gurrea further said his men are closely coordinating with the city police under Supt. Willie Dangane, city police director, to ensure the peaceful celebration of the Yaman-Gensan.
Among the security measures implemented were the periodic checkpoints, foot patrol, enhanced police and military visibility, as well as deployment of plainclothes military and police operatives.
The city's business month celebration kicked off last Monday, June 21 and will wind up on July 23.
The celebration aims to highlight the vital role played by small and medium enterprises in strengthening the economic foundation of the city.
Various activities are lined up to promote the city as business and tourism hub of Central Mindanao area.
