Website for regional development body pushed
By Bong S. Sarmiento

KORONADAL CITY -- The development of a website that would showcase Region 12's best products and tourist destinations is being pushed, with the business sector in South Cotabato agreeing to support such endeavor.

Rolando Doria, private sector representative to the Regional Development Council (RDC) 12, said the website can also be instrumental in pushing the different advocacies of the council "leading to the desired economic and social developments in the region."

"A website would be a big help to promote the region as a viable investment and tourism haven," he said.

Doria said the lack of a website for the RDC 12 was noted by the South Cotabato Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation Inc., through its president Carlito Uy.

Uy's group, according to Doria, would be willing to provide funds for the operationalization of the website for one year.

Maria Lourdes Lim, RDC 12 vice chair, said a website would also be a good venue for the RDC members to get in touch with each other.

Lim said the website can also serve as a mechanism or venue for the public to check or monitor projects pushed or implemented by the RDC 12.

She said the RDC 12 secretariat, which is the National Economic Development Authority 12 and based in Cotabato City, was not able to run a website due to a poor or unstable internet provider in Cotabato City.

Internet services, however, in other parts of the region such as in the cities of General Santos and Koronadal are highly dependable.
