SCIPSI: A pioneer in Mindanao port operations

SOUTH Cotabato Integrated Port Services, Inc. (SCIPSI), the sole operator at the Makar Wharf, Port of General Santos City has taken the lead in the cargo-handling industry in the Southern Part of Mindanao.

SCIPSI's story is a tale of change and innovation - one of a struggle and triumph as it became certified to International Standards of ISO 14001:1996, ISO 9001:2000, OHSAS 18001 last Oct. 2004.

As early as the year 2000, the Management of SCIPSI dreamed of being at par with its world-class counterparts.

A program to obtain acknowledgement from the various global certifying organizations was enacted.

In December 2003, a part of this vision became a reality.

SCIPSI became the first port in the whole Visayas and Mindanao and the fourth port in the entire Philippines to be acknowledged by the International Standard Organization (ISO) based in Geneva, Switzerland as having an Environment-friendly port operations.

SCIPSI has proven once again that it is indeed a leader of innovations in Mindanao in the field of port operations and management.

Embarking on securing the ISO Quality Standard Certification, it is the company's thrust to ensure that services provided to shippers and shipping lines using the Port of General Santos City is of the highest quality.

SCIPSI believes that the company's clients deserve nothing less.

The company also looks after its employees.

Recognizing that its employees are the company's prime resources, SCIPSI provides higher than minimum compensation and benefits package to its employees.

Furthermore, SCIPSI is also embarking on acquiring the Occupational Health and Safety compliance OHSAS 18001.

In preparation for this, SCIPSI employees are issued with the requisite safety gears to be used in their course of work.

Hard hats, safety shoes, safety goggles, working gloves and luminous T-shirts are some of the safety gears the company provides to all its employees free.

SCIPSI also provide continuous Work Safety Trainings to all its employees.

SCIPSI is embarking on an aggressive investment program to further enhance its port operations and in strengthening the company's position as the international trade gateway for Southern Mindanao.
