C. Mindanao products eyed for China trade exposition
THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Region 12 last week revealed that Central Mindanao's agricultural and aquaculture products will be showcased in a trade exposition in China next month.
The region's prime productions will form part of the Philippine trade showcase that will be held in September, according to Nelly Nita Dillera acting chief of the Business Development Division of DTI 12.
"We are still in the process of selecting which group or individual will be chosen to represent the region," she was quoted as saying.
The United States Agency for International Development-funded Growth With Equity in Mindanao has reportedly committed to shoulder part of the expenses of Mindanao's delegation.
Among the products being eyed are processed fruit products such as banana chips, apart from tuna products of which the region is known the world over.
Dillera said Central Mindanao's participation to the trade fair is aimed at establishing market links that would largely benefit farmers and agriculture-based entrepreneurs.
Central Mindanao is composed of the provinces of South Cotabato, North Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani and the cities of General Santos, Koronadal, Tacurong, Kidapawan and Cotabato.
Dillera said that Agnes Luz, GEM's export market development officer, is coordinating efforts to gather participants to the China trade fair. (RBS)
