Gensan posts 8.3% hike in revenue collection growth
THE city is being pushed as model for tax collection efficiency after it registered a hefty 8.3 per cent increase in revenues.
Be friendly to taxpayers, was the advice given by the Bureau of Internal Revenue-District office here to internal revenue offices in other parts of the country.
For BIR District Office 110, it meant recognition from the central office after it exceeded its target revenue collections over the last 18 months.
Aacting BIR commissioner Jose Mario Buñag said the loval revenue district office here surpassed its 2004 collection goal by 14.30% and 2003 actual collection by 29.92%.
As of July 28 this year, the local revenue office collected P378,731,878 out of the targeted P349,782,046 since January, a rise of over eight per cent.
"I think that's what makes us different. We smile more often and our staff promptly attend to our taxpayers whenever they are in the office or even through the telephone," assistant local revenue district officer Noel Gonzales said.
Gonzales also attributed their information campaign, through a radio program, in exceeding their target collection goals.
Since January 2004 to July 28, 2005, the local revenue office had collected P963.3 million. The target collection for the period was P861.2 million. The increase is 11.85%.
For 2004, the local internal revenue office targeted P511.5 million but actually collected P584.6 million, or an increase of 14.30%. (RBS)
