Ex-vice guv in fund scam posts bond By Aquiles Zonio
ALABEL, Sarangani -- A former ranking official of this province who is facing two counts of graft charges before the Sandiganbayan posted bail before a local court here on Thursday.
Former vice governor Felipe Constantino posted a property bond after the 5th Division of the anti-graft court issued a warrant of arrest against him and six others last August 23.
Constantino was among the former provincial officials and employees charged with malversation of funds through falsification of public documents by the anti-corruption coalition in the province.
The charges stemmed from the highly irregular disbursement of P46-million funds for fake cooperatives in the province.
Aside from Constantino, other former officials and employees ordered arrested were board member Marlind Marcelo, Romeo Meole, Maria Camanay, Pat Sol, Nicolas Sunio and Suzette Clerigo.
Senior Superintendent Efren Valeriano, provincial director, told reporters that his men are still tracking down the others.
Valeriano claimed that he had received reports Clerigo had already left for abroad.
The police official said he is still verifying such reports and once it is confirmed he would ask the Department of Foreign Affairs to cancel her passport.
He said that on Thursday, his men went to the provincial capitol to serve the warrant but they were told the persons to be arrested were already dismissed from service.
