Overseas work office to set up desk in Region 12 towns
THE Overseas Workers' Welfare Administration (Owwa) recently announced it is putting up "Migrant workers assistance desk" in every town in region 12 to serve the families of migrant workers much better.
Marianito Roque, Owwa administrator, arrived here on Thursday last week to meet with local government leaders for the planned establishment of Owwa assistance desk in all throughout the region.
This, he said, is a major step toward bringing the Owwa closer to the families of the Filipino migrant workers.
Once this is materialized, Roque said that families of OFW needing Owwa assistance would no longer have to go to Manila.
All they have to do is visit the designated Owwa desk officer in their town and relay their request or concerns.
"Gone are the days when the families of OFWs have to travel to Manila to seek our assistance or relay their concerns to us. Now, they can go to the migrant workers desk officer, who will in turn relay the request to us," Roque said.
By establishing Owwa desk in various towns in the region, the families of OFWS can save time, effort and money.
Owwa desk could also help migrant workers' families in the region in processing papers involving their application for livelihood support or repatriation of their loved ones working abroad.
Other assistance include among others, departure program for those former OFWs who wanted to reemploy abroad, family assistance loan, as well as educational loan and "Tuloy Aral Program." (AZ)
