Task force formed to go after sex video scandal By Aquiles Zonio
GENERAL Santos City Mayor Pedro Acharon Jr. created a task force that would conduct a probe on the proliferation of lewd sex scenes spread through mobile phones here.
This is the second sex video scandal, which came out here in a span of two weeks.
The other week, a sex video, obviously taken clandestinely inside a private room, showed a man and a female student while in the throes of passionate lovemaking.
Several women's group condemned the proliferation of the video and called on local authorities to dig deeper to determine the culprits behind.
The city police command has just started its own probe when, out of the blue, another sex video featuring a woman having sex with two male partners in an apparently public place came out.
This angered the mayor who suspects the porno material was produced by a syndicate or a group who are out to destroy the city.
"I have been living in this city for more than 47 years and this is the first time this kind of nonsense came out. Women here have high sense of self-respect," Acharon said.
Acharon theorized that the woman in video might not be a resident of the city.
"But, regardless of where the victims came from, the proliferation of this sex video must be stopped. We ought to give women due respect," the mayor said.
The task force to be created is composed of representatives from the academe, police, mayor's office and City Council.
The city police command was designated by the mayor to lead the task force.
