Dengue claims lives of 2 kids By Aquiles Zonio
TWO young boys have died of dengue fever in remote Maribulan village in Alabel town, Sarangani since the onset of the feared disease more than a couple of weeks ago, reports said.
Based from a report submitted by Maribulan village chair Julio Emnace to the municipal officials, it was learned that nine children have been afflicted with the mosquito-born disease and two of them have already died.
The municipal health office, which is facing budgetary constraints, had advised villagers to initiate a clean-up drive to avoid dengue-carrier mosquitoes.
Meanwhile, a certain Honorato Fabio claimed the situation in the area is not yet alarming.
Fabio instead emphasized the importance of cleaning the surroundings rather than just conducting fogging operations to drive away dengue.
Mayor Narciso Grafilo, for his part, told reporters he is going to do everything to address the problem of residents in the area.
Grafilo, a doctor himself and former municipal health officer of Alabel, said local health authorities had already visited the area last month.
