Airline to enforce strict rules on Hong Kong flights

PHILIPPINE Airlines would strictly enforce a new Hong Kong aviation security ordinance that lists "prohibited acts" by passengers onboard commercial aircraft flying to or out of the territory.

The offenses, contained in Ordinance No. 14 of the Hong Kong Police, covers all airlines serving Hong Kong International Airport.

These include acts of violence, threats, and destruction of property and crew of the flight, willfully obstructing a member of the crew in the performance of duties.

Also included are failing to comply with instructions for safety precaution and the maintenance of discipline onboard, behaving in a disorderly manner where good order onboard is jeopardized and tampering or interfering with any component, equipment or system installed in the aircraft.

Being in a state of intoxication onboard as to jeopardized the safety of other persons and property, as well as good order onboard, smoking in the aircraft and operating any electronic device in violation of instructions are also among the prohibited acts inside the plane while on flight.

The offenses are punishable by fines and imprisonment ranging from six months to five years.
