Fruit concentrates now in foil packs

A FAMILY-owned company noted for its processed fruit products in South Cotabato has started the mass production of processed fruit concentrates in foil or doy packs to make them more affordable to the larger public.

Ernesto Pantua Jr., Kablon Farms Food Corp. processing manager, said they have tapped the expertise of San Miguel Corp in the production of labeled doy packs containing different fruit concentrates manufactured by Tupi-based firm.

Previously, the company sells fruit concentrates only in bottles.

"We recently disposed to the market doy-packed fruit concentrates in a bid to increase sales in the years to come. This type of packaging makes the product more accessible to the general public," Pantua said.

Kablon's doy pack of 200 milliliter is enough to make one liter of juice drink.

Before, buyers have to shell out as much as P75 for the 500 ml bottled fruit
juice concentrates, Pantua said.

But now, they could have the fruit at P27.50 only in doy packs.

Apart from being handy and affordable, he added, the doy-packed fruit concentrate is ideal for picnickers or backpackers.

Fruit juice concentrates in doy packs include passion fruit, guyabano-clamansi, passion fruit-guyabano, and passion fruit calamansi.

Aside from the fruit concentrates, the family corporation also produces santol preserve, native durian preserve, macapuno preserve, papaya-passion fruit jam, guava jelly, passion fruit-guava jelly, passion fruit-pineapple marmalade, and pure tablea (native chocolate from cacao).

Kablon Farms also processed vegetables like asparagus pickles in bottles. (RBS)
