Computerization contract signed
KORONADAL CITY -- The City Government here and a private firm last week signed a project worth half a million dollars that would fully computerize the operation of the local government unit.
No less than President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo witnessed the signing of a memorandum of agreement between Koronadal Mayor Fernando Miguel and GeoData Systems Technologies Inc. head Alberto Morales.
"It signals the implementation of the five-year Koronadal Information and Communication Technology Project," Miguel said.
The computerization project will be implemented under the build-operate-transfer scheme, the first for any local government computerization program.
Miguel said they hope that with the full computerization of the local government's operation, services would improve dramatically.
"Eventually, Koronadal will become also an example on effective tax collection and other government services," Arroyo also announced.
Trade Secretary Peter Favila and Rafaelito Taruc, executive director of the Department of Trade and Industry's build-operate-transfer Center, earlier endorsed the computerization contract agreement. (RBS)
