Pentagon man escapes
By Aquiles Zonio

ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat -- One of the three inmates who escaped from Sultan Kudarat Provincial Jail early Thursday dawn is reportedly a member of the notorious Pentagon kidnap-for-ransom gang.

The fugitive, who is now the subject of a massive police manhunt, was identified as Guinaid Buat.

Buat is listed by the police as one of the most-wanted persons in the country with P750,000 bounty on his head.

Other escapees were Racman Palaguyan and Tatong Sabandal.

The fourth escapee identified as Allan Labay was recaptured by the jail guards after he was injured in the ensuing pursuit operation.

Provincial jail warden Espiridion Robles Jr. told reporters that the jail guards shot the prisoners after they ignored the warning shots.

"Nilagare nila yong iron grills gamit yong lagare sa bakal saka dahan-dahang gumapang papunta sa bakod. Patalon na sila nung mapansin nga mga jailguards," Robles bared.

Labay was brought in one of the hospitals in Isulan town, Sultan Kudarat for medical treatment.

Buat, who is facing a string of kidnapping and other criminal cases, was previously arrested but managed to escape in March 2003.

He was recaptured in March 2005 by the intelligence operatives of the Central Mindanao Police command in Barangay Bual in Tulunan, Cotabato.

He was tagged as among those 50 members of Moro Islamic Liberation Front lost command who helped sprang Pentagon gang leader Tahir Alonto out of the General Santos City Jail in November 2000.
