Jags-CT trade mission flies to Manado
GLAN, Sarangani -- A top-level group of government officials and local traders to flew to Manado from Davao City last week for business meetings and bilateral talks on customs, immigration, and quarantine services.
The 52-person delegation is representing the Jose Abad Santos-Glan-Sarangani Cooperation Triangle (Jags-CT) for the September 21-25 trade mission to Manado and Bitung, North Sulawesi, Indonesia.
Governor Miguel Dominguez and retired General Efren Abu, Philippine special envoy for the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-the Philippines East Asean Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA), led the delegation, which also includes Glan councilors and CIQS agency heads assigned at the limited international Port of Glan.
"The trade mission is part of Jags-CT's preparations for the mounting of direct shipping services within the Glan (Jags-CT)-Tahuna-Bitung route under the auspices of our BIMP-Eaga initiative," Presidential Assistant for Mindanao Jesus Dureza said in a communiqué.
Dureza, who is Philippine Signing Minister for BIMP-Eaga, said Jags-CT was scheduled to conduct inaugural voyage in this route on October 8.
The Jags-CT delegation is to hold talks with local government officials in Manado and Bitung. The private sector delegation will be meeting with members of the North Sulawesi Chamber of Commerce and Industry to identify business opportunities.
The business and CIQS meetings are in line with the proposed operation of regular shipping services between the areas. (Press release)
