S. Cotabato completes P46 million worth of infra project

KORONADAL CITY -- The Provincial Government of South Cotabato has completed some P46 million worth of infrastructure projects during the first six months of the year, Provincial Engineer Bernardo Dormitorio Jr. said.

Dormitorio said the finished projects covered the upgrading of roads, construction of bridges, schools, office and hospital buildings, learning centers, fabrication of school chairs and tables, box culverts, water systems, agri-related infrastructures, health centers and sports facilities.

He said on top of the list was the completion of the P23 million Integrated Provincial Health Office annex building and the second phase of the Finance Building located at the provincial capitol compound amounting to P9.878 million.

According to a report issued by his office, the lone road project completed, which amounted to P6.387 million, was the upgrading of the junction national highway to Koronadal Proper road in Polomolok.

The completed education-related projects were the repair of the School Learning Resource Center at the Teresita Elementary School in Sto. Nino (P163,081), repair of the two-classroom pre-fabricated primary school building in Punong Grande, Banga (P338,797), repair of the Bololmala Elementary School home economics building in Tupi (P12,400) and the fabrication of wooden desk tables, armchairs, chairs and tables for day care centers and grade schools province-wide (P119,000).

The agri-related and food security infrastructure were the expansion of the productivity center in Surallah (P286,440), construction of the Department of Agriculture's warehouse in Banga (P729,006), construction of chicken brooder house and duck house in Tantangan (P48,700) and construction of sheep shed in Tinongcop, Tantangan (P43,560).

The finished water systems projects include the re-channeling of the river in barangay Sto. Nino, Koronadal City worth P1.97 million, construction of the Halilan water system in Lake Sebu worth P1.07 million, upgrading of 48-inch" diameter reinforced concrete pipe culvert (RCPC) in Crossing Albagan, Tampakan worth P110,793, construction of the Kipalbig water system in Tampakan worth P196,141, rehabilitation of one-line 0.90-meter RCPC and installation of chute in Tampakan worth P286,440 and the drilling of Balquin water system in barangay Lamsugod, Surallah worth P622,178.

Under the health component, the completed projects were the standard barangay health center in Sta. Cruz, Tampakan (P792,840), floor tiling of Lake Sebu District Hospital (P51,400), partial completion of the dietary building of the Lake Sebu District Hospital (P61,000).

Meantime, Dormitorio said the local government also warded some 21 infrastructure projects worth P32.174 million to qualified contractors for immediate implementation.

The projects covered the improvement of school facilities and drainage systems in various parts of the province. (Allen V. Estabillo)
