7 ICT firms open door to jobseekers

AT LEAST leading Information and Communication Technology (ICT) firms based in General Santos, Cebu, Davao, and Manila opened its doors to jobseekers in Southwestern Mindanao in a three-day ICT or e-Job fair that was held here last week.

Dorecita Delima, Department of Trade Industry (DTI) assistant regional director, said the participating ICT companies committed to offer "hundreds of jobs" for both skilled workers and professionals from the city and the neighboring areas.

"The job offers from the ICT companies have been actually growing during the last three years and this is an indication that our ICT industry has been also growing," she said.

The job fair was among the highlights of the 3rd e-Business Week Celebration.

Delima said among the companies that joined the job fair were AMA Computer Learning Center and College, Perfect Image Photo Plaza, Smart Communications, ABS-CBN and call centers Link2Support, G-Com and SixEleven Global Solutions.

Delima said the city alone produces more than 4,000 college graduates annually and most of them reportedly prefer to work in the ICT industry because of the vast opportunities it promises.

"High paying jobs, high profile careers and better chances to work abroad are just a few reasons why they want to be in the dynamic world of ICT," she said.

The e-Job fair was a joint initiative of the DTI, Department of Labor and Employment and ABS-CBN. (Allen V. Estabillo)
