Monday, January 15, 2007 S. Cotabato surpasses revenue collection target by 9%
KORONADAL CITY -- The Provincial Government of South Cotabato reported it has exceeded its real property tax collection target last year by nine percent, which reached P112 million.
The local government real property tax target last year was only 103 million.
South Cotabato Governor Daisy Avance Fuentes also boasted that the figure only covers collections for the first 10 months of 2006 ending October.
"The increased collection was due to the implementation of the general revisions on the assessed value of real properties by the provincial and municipal assessor's office," she said.
The top three of the provinces 10 municipalities with the highest collection efficiency were T'boli, Tampakan, and Polomolok.
T'boli hosts small-scale mining ventures and banana plantations.
Tampakan has a huge mining venture pursued by Sagittarius Mines Inc. while and Polomolok is where Dole Philippines Inc. operates its pineapple and other tropical fruit plantations.
Fuentes said that with their positive accomplishment in last year's tax collection, the province is hopeful to again receive the highest award in real property tax collection for 2006 in Central Mindanao region. (BSS)
