GenSan allots P22-M for infrastructure in first quarter

LOCAL government infrastructure investments in eight villages in General Santos City reached P22 million for the first quarter of the year, officials said.

Some P6.5 million was aligned for the beautification of the General Paulino Santos Park in a bid to impress tourists.

The city, which is the undisputed "Tuna Capital of the Philippines," has also allotted P5 million for the expansion of the public terminal to accommodate more buses and passenger vans.

The tuna industry has spurred the local economy through the presence of six canneries, several dozen fish processors, and other allied industries that provides work to tens of thousands of people.

At least P1.4 million was also earmarked for the construction of a Bio-N plant at the demonstration farm at Barangay Sinawal that would benefit farmers.

The rest of the funds would go to the construction of road projects, either completion/continuation or opening of new paths. (BSS)
