* Number of malnourished kids in Gensan has steadily gone down especially with the coordinated efforts of government agencies and NGOs

MILK feeding is one of the programs being implemented for the past years by the city government of General Santos to address malnutrition problem among children in the city's 26 barangays.

Just recently, the city council authorized Mayor Pedro B. Acharon, Jr. to enter into a memorandum of agreement with the National Dairy Authority and Federation of Davao Dairy Farmers Coop for the provision of sterilized chocolate milk to malnourished children in the city.

The scheme under this agreement would facilitate the alleviation of malnutrition incidence in the city.

Aside from this milk feeding, the City Health Office, City Nutrition Council and the Sub-Committee on Health and Nutrition headed by Bebei Gonzales, have been actively involved in looking into the malnutrition problem.

Programs like supplemental feeding, deworming, operation timbang, and vegetable gardening are being conducted to barangays with malnourished children including schoolchildren in coordination with DepEd.

At present, the number of malnourished children has steadily gone down especially with the coordinated efforts of government agencies and NGOs involved in fighting this problem.
