Monday, June 04, 2007 Mayor equips entry points with cameras
MAYOR Pedro B. Acharon Jr. told a joint meeting of the City Peace and Order and City Disaster Coordination Councils that five wireless cameras would be installed in all the entry and exit points in General Santos City.
"This is part of measures to strengthen the security of the city and to make it more attractive to investors," Acharon said.
"With the cameras in place, peace destabilizers will have second thoughts on making any disturbances in the city. With this technology and a watchful citizenry, we will be assured of a safer place, a major consideration among investors," he added.
Videos of vehicles passing through the city's entry and exit points including their passenger will be recorded using these cameras and reviewed accordingly.
The city mayor has assigned the office of Patrol 117 to spearhead these operations.
Acharon also revealed he will convene leaders of neighboring municipalities to further strengthen the coordination of their intelligence network.
In addition to this, he also approved the budget for the incentives for councilmen and is planning to increase the number of reservist personnel to supplement peace-keeping forces of the city.
