KORONADAL CITY -- South Cotabato's 9th T'nalak Festival kicked off on Friday to once again showcase the province's investment and tourism potentials.
Activities lined up for the festivities include an agri-trade fair, bazaars, concerts, cultural shows, street dancing competition, grand fireworks display competition and visits to various tourism attractions in the province.
The activities will culminate on July 18, the province's foundation anniversary.
South Cotabato Governor Daisy P. Avance Fuentes urged prospective investors to consider the agri-business potentials of the province, which is home to pineapple giant Dole Philippines Inc.
"Our province is relatively peaceful and we have the needed infrastructure support such as roads, telecommunications and others. We invite investors to grace the festivities to also see the tourism sites in the area," she said.
Reynaldo Legaste H. Legaste, provincial agriculture office chief, said that during the agri-related activities, new technologies in growing corn, palay and vegetables would be shown by agricultural seed companies.
At least 10 companies producing hybrid seeds are taking part during the grand farmers' field day, he said.
The festival was named after the T'nalak, an indigenous, colorful cloth woven by women of the T'boli tribe. The cloth has brought recognition to the province in the national and international scene. (BSS)
