Smart backs Tuna Festival

LEADING wireless services provider Smart Communications Inc. (Smart) signed an agreement with the General Santos City government to be the exclusive telco partner of Gensan's forthcoming Tuna Festival.

"We are proud to be Gensan's partner in the celebration of the Tuna Festival, and we are excited to continue contributing to the prosperity of this city," said Ramon R. Isberto, head of Smart's Public Affairs Group.

Gensan, the gateway to the Socsksargen area, is one of the country's most competitive cities, with local and foreign investments rapidly pouring into the area.

The Tuna Festival celebrates the main produce of Gensan, fishing being the city's largest industry, and which has been largely responsible for the economic boom the city enjoys today.

Smart will participate in all festival activities, including the Karagatan Awards at the KCC Convention Hall on August 31, the finals night of the beauty pageant for Miss Gensan at the Gaisano Atrium on September 5, and the Tuna Festival Float Parade on September 5.

Smart is also bringing to Gensan the punk-rock group Kamikazee, creators of the highly infectious Smart Buddy jingle Me na Me, for a big concert to be held at the Gensan City Oval Plaza on September 5.

All festival revelers are welcome to attend and enjoy the concert, and those who will buy a Smart Buddy SIM at the venue and load P15 will receive a ticket to join a raffle where Smart Buddy prepaid handsets will be up for grabs.

Smart's participation in the festival highlights its commitment to Gensan's development, with cutting-edge communication and information technology infrastructure that benefit residents and visitors alike.

Now with more than 33 million subscribers all over the Philippines, it continues to offer to Gensan lowest-ever call and SMS rates to help subscribers cope with rising food, power, and transport prices, while still enjoying high-quality mobile services. Smart also recently introduced Smart Bro Prepaid, and continues to make Internet access available to a broader segment of the population with affordable hardware cost, sachet pricing, nationwide coverage, and easy loading.
