Editorial: Bold and drunk
CONCERNED parents, along with church people, have raised their howl against all forms of pornography in newspaper and tv and in radio.
One of the things they keep on stressing is the biblical truism that "there is a time for everything." They say children should grow gradually in their knowledge of worldly things, and with the proper moral scruples.
In other words, the innocence of children about worldly things should not be enraptured by vulgar knowledge provided by bold shows, lewd articles and a few-years-ahead facts on libido and bed scenes between adult mates. That's polluting their minds with advance doses of facts in the private domain of married couples or can-wait wisdom in adult science courses.
In fact, such prurient exposures can sometimes be tragic. Take, for instance, this true-to-life story that happened a few weeks back in one town in Iloilo.
Two middle-aged women came home drunk. Let us call one of them as Girlie and the other, Maggie.
Girlie took Maggie to the latter's hut for the night rest, after which she also left for their own house.
The evening hardly breathed. It was warm, made even warmer by the intoxicating drink Maggie took with Girlie. So, unabashedly, she took off all her clothes except her panty and bra and went to sleep.
Soon after, her husband arrived with three friends. Let us call the husband, Carlos and his three friends as Jack, Geronimo and Rusty.
On opening the door, Carlos, though groggy in his head, was shocked to see his wife in that bareness. His three friends also saw his wife in that scanty clothing.
Carlos, without telling his friends to go over the back of the door, awakened his wife with a growl.
Awakened, Girlie grumbled why her husband should be so nasty in waking her up. The husband, however, dominated the scene with his anger over what he saw about his wife's scanty clothing.
He asked his wife to dress up and go to the next hut, which also belonged to them, as they - he and his three friends - would snore off their drunkenness in that˙first hut.
She obliged grumblingly but did not dress up. Carlos did not mind this time. Anyway she was sleeping in the other hut alone and away from the peering eyes of men.
Probably realizing that they had not had enough, the four decided to go back to where they were drinking originally. Afterwards, two of them decided to go ahead - Rusty and Geronimo - toward the hut owned by Carlos and his wife to sleep.
When Carlos and Jack thought they had had enough, themselves, they decided to go back to the hut of Carlos to sleep.
Seeing the other two not in the first hut, Carlos asked Jack to go with him to the other hut. There, they saw Rusty sleeping beside Maggie, his wife, still just in her panty and bra. This inflamed the sensibilities of Carlos. A heated argument ensued between Carlos and Maggie. Some time later, neighbors heard the heated argument stop abruptly. Then some odd thud. The next morning, the neighbors saw Rusty dead with a hack of an axe on his head.
That all started, we all know, with Maggie on just her panty and bra. |
