Treņas undecided on which probe to prefer By Ronilo Ladrido Pamonag
WILL it be that of the Task Force on Housing or that of the Committee on Good Government of the city council?
Mayor Jerry Treņas has admitted that he has not yet decided which report and recommendation he will give more weight.
"Well, let's see. I'll have to look into all of these reports in totality so that we can act," he said.
The task force and the committee Both bodies, which have probed anomalies regarding the city's multi-million housing project in Pavia, have indicated that they will be coming out with their final report and recommendation in not later than two weeks.
When asked later if he will act on the recommendations of the council, Treņas answered, "we will act."
However, he added that it depends on what the council will recommend.
"Let's see what the recommendations are," he stressed.
Despite these declarations, Treņas continued to reiterate his primary concern-the project must be saved.
He aired optimism, saying that "...I think there will be ways to save the project."
One way to save the project, he pointed out, is for the houses to be finished soon and start selling these to employees.
"As I have said, time and again, my primary concern there is the City. What will happen to our housing project? What is important is that the project be finished so that we can already start selling them," he expressed.
The Committee started hearing September last year, a bit earlier than that of the task force.
The taks force is headed by City Planning and Development Officer lawyer Saturnino Gonzalez. Among its members are City Legal Officer lawyer Jose Espinosa III, City Engineer Edwin Bravo and employees group president Carl Quimsing.
