Tupas gets PB vote of confidence By Manny Regalado Alcalde
THE Provincial Board of Iloilo, in Thursday's regular session, approved a resolution giving Governor Niel Tupas their vote of confidence against the "scurrilous allegations" of 2nd District Rep. Augusto "Boboy" Syjuco.
All present voted in favor of the resolution.
Unable to make their votes were Board Members Jeneda Salcedo, who was absent; Romulo Cabana, who left early; and Board Member Janette Garin, who went out as Capadosa was reading the resolution.
According to the said resolution, Tupas who was subject of a privilege speech delivered by Syjuco in the lower house of Congress, was "maliciously, unfairly and falsely accused of nepotism and committing acts of corruption with regard to the implementation of the New Iloilo Airport Development Project (NIADP)."
Further, the resolution, sponsored by 2nd District Board Members Celia Capadosa and Romulo Cabana, said Syjuco "has failed to substantiate his allegations of wrongdoing on the part of Tupas during a public debate sponsored by Bombo Radyo last February 8, 2003."
The resolution, which was passed in the light of the "malicious allegations" of Syjuco and decried and condemned his "irresponsible acts", was unanimously seconded by the members present.
Vice Governor Roberto Armada seeing there was no negative reaction to all those members present declared the motion to be unanimously seconded.
Before the start of yesterday's session a pre-caucus was held at the Governor's Office so as to discuss the matters listed in the agenda.
