Boy Cuadra, 2 aides nabbed in Aklan
By Ruby P. Silubrico

A suspected bigtime drug dealer in the region was arrested Tuesday in the Caticlan Airport, in Caticlan, Aklan along with his two bodyguards.

Jose Kim "Boy" Cuadra, and bodyguards Raymundo Morales and Safico Mendoza, all natives of Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, were arrested Tuesday before noon by personnel of the Aviation Security Group.

Police recovered an undetermined amount of suspected methampetamine hydrochloride or shabu, an illegal narcotic from Morales. He denied owning the drugs, saying that he picked them up somewhere in Malay, Aklan.

Police also recovered drug paraphernalia.

Reports said that they were arrested shortly before they were to fly for Bacolod City on board a chartered plane.

The police believed that Cuadra had just delivered illegal drugs in Boracay, an internationally-known resort.

The group had spent several days in Boracay island.

Immediately after their arrest, Cuadra was brought to the Aklan Provincial Police Office. Police, in the meantime, are checking records if there are standing warrants of arrest against him and his two aides.

Cuadra, who was implicated to be Sen. Panfilo Lacson's aide in the drug trade, has a string of cases against him here in the region, particularly for possession of unlicensed firearms and explosives.

Police intelligence earlier disclosed to the media says that Cuadra distributes illegal drugs in the whole region for some time now.
