By Ruby P. Silubrico

THE mother of alleged bigtime drug pusher Joel Barcebas was
arrested by the joint operatives of the Task Force Waterfront and Special Operations Group in a drug raid Friday night at Zamora-Milleza streets, City Proper.

The suspect, Josephine Barcebas, is now detained now at the lock-up cell of Police Precinct 1 (PP1).

He arrest came two days after her 11-year-old son figured in the shooting of a teener following an argument over a basketball net.

Police searched the house of the elder Barcebas by virtue of the warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Evelyn Salao of Branch 52.

Recovered during the raid were five sachets of shabu weighing about four grams and several drug paraphernalia.

Barcebas' son, Joel, who is now detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology for various charges, including drugs, and another drug dealer Wendell Garcia, were earlier linked by police to the operations of Western Visayas drug lord Jose Kim Cuadra.

Meanwhile, two other drug pushers were arrested at around 6:30 p.m. Saturday by operatives of the Iloilo City Mobile Group (ICMG) at Tanza Esperanza, City Proper.

Arrested during the buy-bust operation, headed by Supt. Ruperto Floro, were Benjie Damaso and Joel Legaspi, both of the same place.

Recovered from the suspects were a big sachet of shabu, along with three smaller ones hid inside a brown wallet, seven rounds of live ammunition of caliber .22 and a long rifle (airgun).

ICMG intelligence report indicated that prior to the raid, a police asset bought a sachet of shabu worth P200 from Legaspi and Damaso, who are now detained at the lock-up cell of Police Precinct 1 (PP1).
