A Zen experience By Kathy M. Villalon
VEGA bar ended the merry (or is it lean?) month of August with a party called the Groove Project Zen Experience last August 30.
The main man that night was DJ Martin Pulgar of Temple who was expected to spin some tribal notes yet ended up (due to public demand) with old school house music. House is something that dj Martin is good at -- tribal, vocal, progressive and another kind of music, electro.
Groove Project Zen Experience was conceptualized by Go South Productions headed by good-looking Ash Mirpuri and gorgeous Lisa Consing. It was presented by PLDT DSL, the only company that is capable of giving Web lovers the chance to go online 24 hours a day yet still use their phone line to make and receive calls at a very exciting and, yes...affordable cost. What's this I heard that PLDT DSL is also providing a computer to every subscriber for such service? Yummy offer, so don't take long to take a bite and enjoy the worldwide web with no limitations.
The Royal Am Rei, one of Bacolod's plush hotels was also one of the sponsors of this successful event. Radio 102.3, Sun.Star Bacolod and Sun.Star Iloilo were the party's media partners.
The gig, of course, wasn't a success without the fun-lovers who made it to Vega despite the many late-night and just-in-time-for-payday events that also took place around Iloilo that evening.
Seen was the group of Iloilo's handsome bachelor who is said to be eyeing a political seat soon, Tito Lopez and his charming friend, businessman Maoy Bedro and his sister May.
Towering beauties, models Michelle San Agustin, Angel and Candy Doronila (also Vega's very effective Marketing Manager) were fashionably sexy as ever.
Designer par excellance Bo Parcon and the very affable and good-looking Nacy Hechanova in their pristine white shirts got the taste of the Zen experience together with friends Dinah, Roger and Agustin.
Banker and fashionista Andy Cinco, and moi's better half was as usual busy snapping photos of Iloilo's party animals including the men behind Vega's shockingly fun and successful parties, general manager DJ Elmer Dado, operations manager Arvin, alias Jumper, DJ Eryk who opened the party with garage music, DJ Jayvee who played the popular RnB and hiphop beats and Vega's Public Relations Manager McCoy.
Vega's loyal patrons were there too, like businessman Raymond Co, ballerina Ann Jalandoon, Sun Cellular's Area Supervisor Ann Darroca, journalist Vincent Alocada and charming couple Rex and Christianne Melocoton.
DJ James McCranie was a welcome sight after a long absence in the Vega party scene. His commendable music (he is one of the country's rare talents) was sorely missed yet but not for long for he was dj Santa Claus in the first Christmas Party in Iloilo City that took place the next night, September 1, 2003.
Photos, what took place and who came to Iloilo's first Christmas party will hit the Sun.Star pages soon, so watch out for it.

PARTY TIP: Everyone is entitled to their share of fun, do show kindness and respect for that right by not stepping on other people's toes while at the club. Don't judge them by the way they wear their hair, the way they wear their clothes, the way they dance and even what they eat and drink, because like you, dear party animal, they are equally special and unique too.
So, party on, Ilonggos!
