Muchada to probe drug protectors
By Ruby P. Silubrico

SENIOR Supt. Felix Muchada, chief of the Task Force Waterfront, has vowed to investigate the alleged involvement of four police officers in the operations of big-time drug dealer Ray Oņang.

A police source earlier told Sun.Star that four police personalities, including a high-ranking police official, serve as Oņang's protectors.

Though Muchada admitted that he has not yet received such report, he said he will still look into it.

"We have not yet received reports on police personnel protecting Oņang but I assure the public that our intelligence personnnel is investigating this matter," he said.

Oņang, who is based in La Paz, Iloilo City, was arrested Wednesday during a raid conducted by operatives of the Regional Special Operations Group and the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force.

"We are not tolerating this. We are working hard to identify police personnel who are protecting drug dealers," Muchada said.

Recovered from Oņang's possession during the raid at his residence in Villa Carolina Subdivision were several sachets of shabu weighing about four grams.

Oņang, who reportedly has a supplier from Metro Manila, operates in the city and the neighboring towns, police said.

Last year, he was also arrested during a raid conducted by the La Paz Police Station but he was able to post bail.
