Jealous husband hacks wife dead By Ruby P. Silubrico
A MAN reportedly suffering from nervous breakdown hacked dead his wife near noon Thursday in Sitio Ulwangan, Barangay San Roque, Btac. Viejo, Iloilo, in a fit of jealousy.
Three hours after he killed his wife, Roberto Anorico of Barangay Lingcud, Dingle, gave up and surrendered to the police.
According to reports, Fely was about to light a cigarette when Roberto hacked her at around 11 a.m. inside the house of their daughter Rona. She was hit at the back of her neck and in her abdomen.
Shortly after the hacking, their daughter Reylen and his granchild fled the house.
When residents and barangay officials responded, they did not enter the house. Instead, they told Roberto to give himself up.
Instead of surrendering, Roberto instead threatened to commit suicide. He attacked those who wanted to retrieve Fely's body from inside the house.
It came to a point when Barotac Viejo Mayor Raul Tupas personnaly negotiated with Roberto into surrendering, but it proved futile.
He said that he will only surrender to his police friend, who was only identified as a certain SPO4 Darroca of the Dingle police. When Darroco arrived, Roberto still refused to yield.
Roberto only surrendered when his daughter Haide arrived at around 2:20 p.m.
Fely, said reports, visited Rona Thursday last week. She and Roberto had a misunderstanding.
The day after, Roberto apologized to Fely. He reportedly got jealous of a certain Bob, Rona's neighbor.
Before the killing, Roberto told Fely that he will go home to Dingle because Bob wants him dead, so that he (Bob) and Fely can live together.
But, Rona and Fely held him back, preventing him from going to Dingle. It was then that he got angry and hacked Fely to death.
But when interviewed, Roberto regreted killing Fely, saying that he had no intention to kill her.
He admitted though, justifying that the hacking was "in order that the love affair of Bob and his wife will not be successful."
Haide told the police that Roberto is suffering from nervous breakdown. In fact, there were reports that he had not slept and had not eaten for the past two days.
He is now under the custody of the Barotac Viejo police and faces parricide charge.
