Grijaldo to Ramirez: Let's make peace By Ruby P. Silubrico
REGIONAL Internal Affairs Service (Rias) chief Supt. Rolenson Grijaldo has appealed to 3rd district Provincial Board (PB) Member Vicente Ramirez to accept his offer for reconciliation.
Iloilo Gov. Niel D. Tupas said Thursday Grijaldo asked him to mediate between him and the board member.
Tupas said he has yet to talk with Ramirez. The board member could not be reached for comment as of press time.
Grijaldo's offer for reconciliation came after the Provincial Board declared him and Rias legal officer Samson Go persona non grata for their alleged "arrogant" conduct against Ramirez.
Also considered as such are Rias operatives SPO2 Victor Manua and PO2 Jose Brando Duarte, who were with Grijaldo and Go during their encounter with Ramirez inside the KTV bar of The Residence hotel last Sept. 30.
The board unanimously approved the resolution following Ramirez's privilege speech last Tuesday.
The board also approved the resolution requesting the PNP Directorate of the Internal Affairs Services to impose preventive suspension or relief order on the four Rias personnel.
They also requested Director Jose Lalisan of the PNP Directorate for Personnel and Records Management to impose appropriate sanctions on the four for violating the memorandum which strictly prohibits PNP personnel from carrying firearms in public places.
The provincial board also approved the filing of a complaint against Go for conduct unbecoming of a lawyer before the Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Iloilo Chapter.
Last Sept. 30, Grijaldo's group reportedly entered Buddy's Bar, where Ramirez is a regular customer, very drunk.
When Duarte started displaying his firearm before two female customers, Ramirez said, he was alarmed and sought assistance from Police Precinct 1 (PP1).
Policemen who responded to Ramirez' call recovered a super .38 gun from Manua and a 9MM pistol from Duarte.
Ramirez added that while they were at the PP1, Grijaldo reportedly attempted to hit him and shouted invectives at him.
