National Ballet Syllabus Inc. holds students workshop

THE National Ballet Syllabus Inc., in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, will hold a students workshop on the Philippine Ballet Syllabus this November 8 and 9 at Assumption.

Participating schools are School for Performing Arts of Annie D. Sartorio, Faith School of Dance of Faith J. Javellana, Colegio Del Sagrado Corazon De Jesus Ballet School under Sol Fernandez, Iloilo National High School, School for the Arts (Ballet) under Tina Sison, Stages Ballet School, Roxas City of Cheryl Anne R. Lastimoso and Claravall-Gonzalez School of Classical Ballet of Nila C. Gonzalez.

Teachers for this workshop are Felicitas L. Radaic, co-founder of Philippine Ballet Theater and Noordin A. Jumalon, Principal of the CCP Dance School.

Workshops have already been held in schools in Metro Manila, Laguna, Quezon, Dumaguete, Davao and General Santos with much success. Some of these schools have already undergone assessments.

The Philippine Syllabus for Classical Ballet and Character dance covers eight years of training and incorporates features that address the needs of the Filipino student taking into account his physique, temperament and cultural backgrounds.

Felicitas L. Radaic is principal author and Noordin A. Jumalon and Vella C. Damian are co-authors.

Local sponsors for the workshop are Department of Tourism (DOT), Assumption and Sacred Heart Press.
